Laura has 15+ years’ experience of managing cross-sector programmes and partnerships across a range of education not-for-profits, including higher education and schools. As the first Managing Director of The Elephant Group, a headteacher-led charity that addresses the underrepresentation of ‘top third’ non-selective state school students at ‘top third’ universities, she has grow the organisation from 8 schools in 2018 to a wider collaboration of 37 schools and 10 selective universities in four regions of the UK. The Elephant Group brings together school leaders, heads of Sixth Form and university admissions teams to implement a shared university access strategy and co-deliver a sustained KS5 programme to support and guide students’ applications, attainment and aspirations. State school proud, Laura has a BA in English & History from The University of Sheffield ( a useful example of how degree subjects can lead to a wide range of careers) and a PG Cert in Management from Birkbeck. She also became a Governor of Harris Academy Orpington this year.
